In order to attract potential new permanent residents in this category, several immigration classes have been created at the federal level, and at the provincial level through classes in the provincial nomination programs. The categories for business/investor applicants include the following:

• Entrepreneur start-up visa program: Open to individuals with a strong business proposition, who have secured funding and mentorship support from a designated investment organization in Canada
• Self-employed persons program: Open to individuals who can demonstrate the ability to live on, and support accompanying family members with, income generated from being a farmer, athlete or artisan.
