Newfoundland & Labrador is one of Canada’s Maritime provinces. Newfoundland is an island, while Labrador is connected to the mainland. The province boasts abundant natural resources, some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, and a unique cultural heritage. In recent years, Newfoundland & Labrador’s natural and energy resources have resulted in a surging economy.
The Newfoundland & Labrador Provincial Nominee Program, or NLPNP, allows for faster than usual processing of permanent residence applications by individuals who can demonstrate having the skills and experience needed by the province.
NLPNP offers opportunities to immigrate under the following categories:
-
- Newfoundland & Labrador express entry skilled worker: This program is available to individuals who are on the federal express entry pool. These individuals can apply for immigration through the NL express skilled worker category if they have received valid job offers from employers in the province.
- Skilled worker category: This stream is open to people who have received an offer of employment from an employer in Newfoundland & Labrador. Those who are currently working in the province under a valid work permit may also apply.
- International graduate category: Individuals who have been awarded a degree, diploma or certificate from a provincially recognized educational institution who have chosen to stay in the province under a post-graduate work permit. In order to qualify, applicants must either have a job offer from, or be working for, an employer in Newfoundland & Labrador, in work related to their field of study.
