Quebec Business Immigration – Entrepreneur

Eligible business owners who can demonstrate the ability to create or acquire an agricultural, commercial or industrial business in the province of Quebec may be granted permanent resident status. Applicants need to undergo a language test approved by the provincial government to show that they have advanced intermediate French capabilities.

The Quebec Entrepreneur category grants qualified business owners and managers the opportunity to obtain a Permanent Resident Visa, provided that they can effectively create or acquire an agricultural, commercial or industrial business in Quebec.

Note that applications under this category were open until March 31, 2017. The maximum number of applications was received by this deadline.

In order to be considered, applicants have to demonstrate the following:

  • That they intend to live and work in the province of Quebec
  • That they have a net worth of at least CAD $300,000
  • That they have at least two years of business management experience acquired during the five-year period prior to applying
  • That this experience was gained in a full-time position in a profitable business in which the applicant held at least 25% of the equity

Applicants are required to submit a business project demonstrating that the following conditions will be met for at least one year during the first three years of permanent residence:

  • That an agricultural, commercial or industrial business will be established in Quebec
  • That the applicant will hold at least 25% of the capital equity of the business, accounting for at least CAN $100,000
  • That at least one resident of Quebec will be employed in the business for at least 30 hours per week
  • That the applicant will play a key role in the management of business
